Optimus Ride is an autonomous shuttle company on a mission to drive the future of transportation.

Since day one we've been committed to delivering the safest, smartest advancement and adoption of AV technology to address critical transportation needs in localized environments – campuses, communities, and cities. We are Optimists – by definition both hopeful and confident in our mission, our work, and the future of community-focused autonomous mobility.

Our road to success

2015
August 2015

Founded by members of the MIT community including 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge team members, focused on shared, electric, neighborhood-friendly, autonomous vehicles for communities from Day 1.

2016
June 2016

Developed our first low-speed, electric, autonomous vehicle prototype–Golfatron–and built the foundation of our AV tech stack.

2017
June 2017

Hit the hometown streets of Boston with early MassDOT AV approval for public road AV testing.

2018
May 2018

Launched our inaugural pilot program for residential community mobility at Union Point in Weymouth, MA, delivering intra-community rides for residents and first/last mile connection to MBTA Commuter Rail.

February 2019

Announced strategic partnership with leading global real estate developer Brookfield Properties.

July 2019

Launched Halley Rise in Reston, VA, our first corporate campus mobility service program, connecting Fannie Mae employees between remote parking lots and their headquarters building.

Launched the first commercial AV deployment in New York State at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, connecting NY Ferry-goers to the rest of Brooklyn. A first/last mile connection between Brooklyn, Manhattan, Roosevelt Island, and Queens.

Launched ride services at Paradise Valley Estates, a 60+ Life Plan Master Planned Community, connecting residents to each other and area amenities.

May 2020

Repurposed our fleet and services during COVID-19 to support our communities. We delivered 6000+ free meals to Washington, D.C. community members in need in partnership with The Yards, and provided food, mail, and grocery delivery services for residents at Paradise Valley Estates in California..

February 2021

Launched The Yards mobility service, an urban mixed-use community, delivering rides in and around the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood connecting tenants, residents, and friends of The Yards to Capitol Hill South metro, Barracks Row, and other areas of interest.

Announced partnership with Polaris and commitment to deliver an exclusive line of custom-designed, fully autonomous, low-speed, electric vehicles by 2023.

Announced Advisory Board, bringing together a powerhouse team of mobility, public transit, and real estate development leaders.

Awarded $4.3 million DOE grant to deploy one of the largest autonomous fleets in the US and conduct critical AV research in partnership with Clemson University, UC Berkeley, and Argonne National Labs.
